Join us for an indulgent masterclass of fine port, chocolate and artisan cheese (we'll be tasting some delicious charcuterie too, but the event name wouldn't be so snappy!)

From wonderfully fresh dry white ports, to the wood aged styles of tawny, crusted and LBV - come and explore the fascinating variety of styles of this fantastic fortified wine.

Sadly, for many people port is seen only as a Christmas tipple to accompany a slice of Stilton, but with a variety of styles on offer we want to show just how diverse and perennial port can be, especially when paired with the right food!

We will introduce you to the key styles of port in a deliciously fun hands-on way and deliver essential tips on how to taste port and assess quality, when to drink each style and what to eat with them. You'll discover some of port's long and illustrious history, how and where it is produced and the process behind all the main styles as we go.

Places are limited on each session, so book now to avoid disappointment!

Tasting glasses, crackers, water and notes will also be provided. The Great Wine School is run by Bristol Wine School, and wine tutor Tristan Darby has certified wine knowledge and many years experience in both the catering and wine trade. He is the founder of Bristol Wine School, drinks columnist for The Bath Magazine, and a judge for both Bristol Good Food Awards and Bath Good Food Awards. Tristan also trains wine and catering professionals, consults for bars restaurants and private clients, works with cookery schools, and occasionally hosts wine dinners and events with some of the region's top chefs.

He is passionate that world of wine shouldn't be a pretentious, elitist place and has a earned a great reputation for imparting his knowledge in an enthusiastic, un-stuffy, non-patronising and approachable way. He'll answer questions as you go, and hopes to give you the confidence and tools to break habits, expand horizons and explore new and interesting wines.

THIS EVENT MAKES A PERFECT GIFT - You will be given an option to select your purchase as a gift in our checkout area, we will then send you a gift certificate by email or post to present to your guest.
